Our Story
Southern Power & Equipment was first established over 15 years ago by Cenac Towing owner and Houma entrepreneur Arlen “Benny” Cenac, Jr. Benny is a Louisiana-based entrepreneur with a global reach, an avid philanthropist to the Gulf Coast region, and a strong suporter of coastal wetland restoration.
The company was started as a subsidiary of Cenac Towing, due to their expertise and knowledge in engines and power for their tugboat fleet. As the owner of Cenac Towing, Benny led the company through industry hardships by primarily focusing on customer service, efficiency, and quality. Since its inception, Benny has led Southern Power & Equipment with the same company values. These values, combined with a commitment to employee satisfaction and great company morale, are how he defines its success.
Under Benny’s leadership, Southern Power & Equipment continues to grow and upgrade its training and experience level mechanically. Founded on engine sales of every size and horsepower, our product line has recently grown into engines, generators, utility carts, vehicles, and full line of tractors. We have also moved into a new, state-of-the-art facility on the Cenac Towing campus in order to better serve our loyal customer base.
